Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is a wine estate in the Pauillac appellation of the Haut-Médoc region north of Bordeaux . Often abbreviated as "Pichon-Lalande" or "Pichon Comtesse" (in particular to differentiate it from its neighbour, Château Pichon-Longueville Baron), the estate produces a great wine with a dominant < strong>Cabernet Sauvignon.

Pichon-Lalande is also a neighbor of the Premier Cru Classé, Château Latour. These three estates share a similar terroir and climate, which partly explains the quality of the Comtesse de Lalande wine - sometimes referred to as "almost premier cru".

The Pichon-Lalande estate covers 85 hectares. Five Bordeaux grape varieties are grown on the estate's vineyards, although the great wine has historically been dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot > (Cabernet Sauvignon making up 60% of the blend). Comtesse de Lalande wines are among the most voluptuous in the Médoc due to the high proportion of Merlot in the wine.

Originally, Comtesse de Lalande was part of a property formerly known as Château Pichon Longueville, owned by Baron Joseph de Pichon Longueville who died in 1850. The estate was later acquired by the Miailhe family in 1925 The chateau was eventually sold to Champagne Louis Roederer in 2007.

Réserve de la Comtesse 2015 is a blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. It presents a very fine bouquet, quite sophisticated and pure, with aromas of black cherries, cedar and violets, fragrant and sensual. The palate is medium-bodied, with soft, rounded tannins enveloped in layers of tobacco-tinged dark fruit that ends in a long, slightly spicy finish.

This wine goes perfectly with duck, game, or roasted or braised dishes.
