The Petit Verdot , present for centuries and renowned for quality during the Middle Ages, is present in many grape varieties of classified growths of the Médoc . Le Petit Verdot gives an identity to the vintages and its grape variety brings sugar and color to give volume in the mouth.
Its grape variety is capricious. This one needs serious sun and humidity. Its terroirs have generally been planted with Cabernet Sauvignon .
In the vineyard, this Petit Verdot also requires a lot of care. It requires optimal monitoring because its antlers are very brittle and it rots very easily during maturity. It takes 24 hours to harvest it.
Many châteaux include it systematically in the great wines category because it provides a solid structure thanks to its high tannin content . It also has aromatic qualities. As a single varietal, it is a wine with a deep scent of cocoa and tannery . On the palate, it is powerful with tight and hard tannins . Its aromas are composed of blueberries and coffee and its length is delicious.
