La Bastide Saint-Vincent Gigondas - Red Wine
Red wine from France, Appellation Gigondas
Red wine from France, Appellation Gigondas
La Bastide Saint Vincent Gigondas 2019 is a red wine with a delicious scent of red fruits and spices. The supple and spicy flavor takes on its full meaning when combined with game dishes and stews.
Gigondas is a small village in the south of the Rhône, located on a hill under the famous Dentelles de Montmirail. It was the second (after its most illustrious neighbor Châteauneuf-du-Pape) to have its own appellation, in 1971. The name comes from the Latin jocunditas, "joyful city".
Gigondas is now the benchmark in the region at the same level as Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Owner Laurent Daniel has now taken over from his father at Domaine Bastide Saint Vincent and produces a superior, concentrated and typically spicy red Gigondas.
Due to the low yield of less than 30 hectoliters per hectare and the limited size of his vineyard (only 6 hectares), Laurent produces a modest amount. Its Gigondas vineyard is planted with Grenache (70%), Mourvèdre (20%) and Syrah (10%) .
