French red wine - Bordeaux region - Saint-Julien appellation - 3rd Grand Cru Classé - Vintage 2016
Château Lagrange 2016 is a red wine from Bordeaux produced on the Saint-Julien appellation. This 3rd Grand Cru Classé comes from a vineyard of 118 hectares of vines with an average age of 42 years. The soil made up of Günzian gravel and a clay-limestone subsoil gives this wine all its character. This year 2016, the mild and rainy spring was conducive to an earlier budburst of the vine. Thanks to a window of good weather, the flowering was also able to take place perfectly. The harvest took place from the beginning to the end of October.
The blend blends 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot. For 21 months, the wine was aged in barrels, 60% of which were new. This Château Lagrange 2016 is a red wine whose eye is drawn to a dark, near-black colour with purple tints. On the nose, a bewitching aromatic complex with notes of black cherries, blackcurrant, liquorice and pepper. On the palate, you will discover delicate minty touches and a long finish.
This red wine is round and powerful. The tannins are silky and delicate. Also take advantage of its ageing potential to enjoy it in a few years.
