Sweet White Wine from France – I.G.P. Côtes de Gascogne 2019
For generations, the Laffitte family has lived and cultivated wine in Gascony , in the southwest of France. The traces of the Laffittes go back to the Middle Ages, around the 15th century. Like many families in Gascony, the Laffittes cultivated grapes for the famous Armagnac brandy. From one generation to the next, the Laffittes family property has been passed down from the father to what has always been the only son of the family.
Christophe and Sébastien Laffitte are the first two sons of the family to share the property. They continue the work of their parents and develop the production of wine in addition to the production of Armagnac. The two Laffitte brothers developed with "Le petit Gascoûn" and later "Domaine Laffitte" their own brands for the wine produced in the family cellar. They also managed to increase the area of the estate's vineyard from 18 to a total of 120 hectares in a single generation.
"Le petit Gascoûn" which means "The little guy from Gascony" is produced by the Laffitte brothers from the best plots of each vintage. The wines are very expressive, generous and impatient - synonymous with pleasure and conviviality, two of the most important characteristics of the inhabitants of Gascony.
This mellow white wine is impressive, rich in aromas. The intense nose hides passion fruit, pineapple and lychee. In the mouth, fruity and fresh notes dominate at the start, which leads to a complex finish. An excellent aperitif or dessert wine, which is also suitable to accompany goat cheese or exotic dishes.
