Red Wine from France – I.G.P. Côtes de Gascogne 2018
In the South West of France, in Gascony, the Lafitte family have lived and cultivated wine for generations. It is from the 15th century that we can trace their traces. The grape was the fruit cultivated by many families in Gascony. The Laffittes were no exception to the rule to extract all the richness of this fruit in a famous brandy: Armagnac.
The Laffittes family property has always been passed down from father to son. Christophe and Sébastien Laffitte are to date the first two sons of the family to jointly manage the property. In line with the work of their parents, they develop the production of wine in addition to the production of Armagnac. This is how the latter developed their own brands for the wine produced in the family cellar, counting "Le petit Gascoûn" and "Domaine Laffitte" .
"Le petit Gascoûn" - "Le petit Guy de Gascogne" is produced by the Laffitte brothers from the best plots of each vintage. Their wines are always very expressive, generous and impatient - synonymous with pleasure and conviviality, two of the most important characteristics of the inhabitants of Gascony.
This red wine "Le petit Gascoûn", uses Tannat and Cabernet Franc grape varieties . The grapes grow on sunny sandy-gravelly soils and are harvested at the optimum time of their maturity. Vinification and extraction are done very gently in order to preserve the fruit and elegance. Soft, light and fruity. On the nose, aromas of fresh red fruits and candied fruits. In the mouth, the tannins are light, soft and very delicate.
