French red wine - Bordeaux region - Saint-Julien appellation - 2019 vintage
Defeated at the Battle of Castillon in 1453, the Constable Talbot, a famous English warrior, according to legend, gave his name to this estate. This Château Connétable Talbot 2014 comes from a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot.
This 2014 vintage reveals notes of red fruits and spices. It is supple and tender on the palate and its finish is tight and silky. Moreover, it reveals notes of freshly cut flowers as well as a touch of mint and sweet red berries, all in a full mouth, sewn with tender and suave tannins. It has a rather dusty bouquet and a medium-bodied palate.
The second wine of Château Talbot, Classé Grand Cru was born in the 60s. Owner since 1917, the Cordier family has gradually made it gain in precision and in constitution over the vintages.
The average age of the vines is 30 years and the harvest is manual. The sorting is carried out in the vineyard and in the cellar, the aging in barrels lasts between 15 and 18 months. For winemaking, wood is in the spotlight in the form of vats. There are 3 grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot as well as traces of Verdot.
The result is a fine and elegant Saint-Julien , marked by a clean and well-defined frame for a long and fresh finish.
